Senior Citizens

There was a fantastic turn out again for this year’s Golden Year’s party in Streete Parish Park on Sunday, 24th  March last.  Over 90 senior citizens attended our annual gala event for a great afternoon of beautiful food and entertainment. The Golden Years party was again organised by the hard working committee of Streete Parish Park and the main organiser who was in attendance to see everything ran  smoothly was Parish Park Development Officer, Kevin Brady who deserves great credit and thanks for his great voluntary input. Fr Nigel said grace before and after dinner.

Our Chairman Declan Carthy thanked all for attending and for supporting the Parish Park and our community over the years. Declan said  “on behalf of the Committee we would like to thank all who gave so generously  cash donations and raffle prizes and who offered their time to help out”. We would also like to thank Bernie Tighe, Johnny Keary, Jimmy Leavy, Davey Harris and Noel O’Neill for the very enjoyable sing along music for all to enjoy.

We would like to express great praise to the very talented local Champion Shane Fahy, Streete and Sarah and Rebecca Gurren from Finea for providing us with such fantastic Irish dancing skills, also the two Kiernan Girls Eimear and Niamh who played outstandingly, it’s heart-warming to see such talent in the parish. Thanks also to Maura Sullivan and Deirdre Leavy for showing us how to play the popular pickle ball.

Finally to John Feerick and his hard working staff from Rathowen who provided the food on which everyone complimented was simply beautiful. Please god we will do it all again next year.  I will finish by asking you to consider buying our weekly lotto envelopes at €2 each, three for €5 or €50 to be included for the year.  Any difficulty getting envelopes just call Brian 086 2596656
