STREETE & DISTRICT NOTES

STREETE & DISTRICT NOTES (CONTINUED)
WALKING TRACK: - please note those who avail of our Streete Parish Park Walkway are gently reminded that membership is now due for the coming year.  The fee is only €20 per person or €30 per family for the coming year. As mentioned before the Chairman and committee had to give it a facelift which included resurfacing etc.  I am sure all will realise this money is needed to help with the track, insurance and lighting.  Payment can be left in an envelope in the Centre letterbox or given to any Parish Park committee member or staff member. All who become members are welcome to use the facility and parents are welcome to avail of the children’s play area or hire the centre for a birthday party if contact is made with Tracey on 087 9287129.  Please support your local Centre.

PLAY: - we are very happy to announce that on Saturday, 1st December at 8.30p.m. in Streete Parish Park Centre, Seamus O’Rourke well known playwright will perform his production of “And thank You” which was written and will be performed by the author, himself with proceeds in aid of necessary works to the Parochial House in Boherquill.  We are hoping for support, so please pass on the word to your family and friends. Some will remember other plays of his including the “Gospel according to O’Rourke” as well as “Your prayers have been answered”.  Many will have seen Seamus on T.V. or heard him on Radio, so now is the chance to enjoy this live production in Streete Parish Park at 8.30p.m. on Saturday, 1st  December.  This could be the first of many productions depending on support.  This will be another way for you and friends to get together before Christmas.

STREETE BOWLS CLUB: - The Streete Bowls Club concluded the doubles competition on Tuesday night at the Sports Complex. Eamon Carty and Mel Dunleavy played Francis Butler and Mick Turner in the semi-finals. Francis and Mick came out on top in a nail biting game. The other semi-final was just as exciting.Catherine Costello and Martin Gaynor pipped Gerry McCaffrey and Thomas Sullivan at the winning post. The final was a bit one-sided. Francis and Mick raced into an early lead and went on to become worthy winners.Well done lads and thanks to all players who took part. Streete club,in association with Longford/Westmeath Bowls are hosting the counties doubles competition for the twelfth consecutive year on Sunday 2th. December. This competition decides the top singles player in both counties. Aaron O'Brien from Tyrrellspass is the current holder of this title. We are expecting at least fifty competitors this year and needless to say we are hoping for a Streete winner.
