{"id":362,"date":"2019-06-08T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-06-07T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/streeteanddistrict.ie\/streete-district-notes-8th-june-2019\/"},"modified":"2022-09-08T14:13:27","modified_gmt":"2022-09-08T13:13:27","slug":"notes-8-jun-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/streeteanddistrict.ie\/notes-8-jun-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"08 June 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Anniversaries<\/h2>\n<p class=\"paragraph\">Mass this Friday evening, June 14th at 8p.m. in St. Mary\u2019s Church, Boherquill is in memory of the late Thomas Sullivan (Mossie) and the 8p.m. Mass the following evening, Saturday,15th is in memory of the late Jack Carthy, and deceased family members.\u00a0 May all our dead rest in God\u2019s peace.<\/p>\n<h2>Death<\/h2>\n<p>We were not in time for some of the papers last weekend so we all extend sincere sympathy to the extended Gaynor family on the sudden and sad death of Hal Gaynor, Lisryan whose funeral took place on Sunday, 2nd June after Mass in Boherquill.\u00a0 May he rest in peace<\/p>\n<h2>Cemetery Sunday<\/h2>\n<p>Cemetery Sunday will take place on Sunday, July 7th at 11a.m. in St. Mary\u2019s Church, Boherquill and the Blessing of Graves afterwards in Church cemetery, St. Fintan\u2019s, Coolamber and Streete after Mass.\u00a0 \u00a0Please send word to any family members and friends who live away from the parish.\u00a0 These details depend on suitable weather conditions.<\/p>\n<h2>Masses<\/h2>\n<p>Masses for the Month of June Masses will take place as follows: - Boherquill Saturday evenings 8.00p.m. and Sunday mornings 11.00a.m. in Rathowen.<\/p>\n<h3>Telephone Numbers<\/h3>\n<p>Numbers for our Priest, Fr Nigel are requested by many who do not live locally are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>087 7009433 (mobile) or landline (043) 6685847 (for both ends of the parish)<\/p>\n<h2>Boherquill Ramblers<\/h2>\n<p>The Ramblers trip to Wales over the June Bank Holiday weekend was a great success. On Friday the group checked into their hotels and explored the town of Menai Bridge. On Saturday Liz Gaccon led the group on a walk based on the beautiful village of Beddgelert in Snowdonia. The wonderfully scenic route followed the rocky Aberglaslyn pass beside the Glaslyn river and then a slow climb up Cwm Bychan valley before the descent to Dinas Lake and back to Beddgelert.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday's walk was on Anglesey, through Newborough Forest to Llanddwyn, a tidal island of great historical and geological interest. A stretch of beautiful open beach and some more forest brought the day's walk to an end. Monday's walk was in the north of Anglesey, along the cliffs from near South Stack Lighthouse to the beach at Porth Dyfach. The scenery was breathtaking, and the beautiful weather added to the enjoyment. After their walk the Ramblers only had a short journey to catch the ferry home from Holyhead.<\/p>\n<p>The Ramblers would like to thank Liz Gaccon for all her work in organising the trip and leading such superb walks. Thanks also to Goodsir Coaches of Holyhead and their drivers Graham and Sean for transport over the weekend. The comfortable accommodation and good food provided by the Victoria and Anglesey Hotels and the Premier Inn were all greatly appreciated. Finally thank you to Nini Murray, Mary McHugh and Patricia Bruton who handled the sometimes tricky arrangements from here.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday June 16 the Ramblers will visit Glasson. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and meet in Ballymahon at the petrol station on the Athlone road at 2pm before moving on to Glasson village.<\/p>\n<p>New members and new walks are always welcome. Dolan and Jennifer Hussey.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Next Lotto draw will be held on 17th June when the jackpot will be \u20ac15,000.\u00a0 Thank you for your continued support for our lotto.<\/p>\n<h2>Social Dance<\/h2>\n<p>Our next Social Dance will be held on Friday, 21st June with music by the ever popular Chris Dallat.\u00a0 Dancing from 10.00-12.30 a.m.\u00a0 Free raffle and supper on the night.\u00a0 Come along for a great night\u2019s entertainment.<\/p>\n<h2>Streete Vintage Day 2019<\/h2>\n<p>This year is Sunday, 30th June with great excitement building.\u00a0 \u00a0Music on the day will be by well-known stars, Johnny Brady accompanied by Carmel Mcloughlin.\u00a0 We hope and pray for good weather as a dance floor has been hired in front of the bandstand.\u00a0 The annual mouse racing will also take place if the weather is kind.
