Streete Notes 19th November 2023
Santa Visit: Santa’s helpers and his elves have been very busy in the Streete parish park and have a beautiful grotto ready for Santa’s arrival next Sunday, it’s been a busy year here in the North Pole Streete and his elves have been working hard to ensure every family has a wonderful private visit with Santa Claus! Upon your check in at the Christmas Market each family will meet their elf guide who will take them directly to meet Santa and Mrs. Santa in the Magical Cabin. As always Santa Claus will give them a lovely goody bag to take away. You can also get a gorgeous professional photo to capture the magic of meeting the big man to keep the memory of this magical moment for generations to come.
Christmas Market: A special reminder of our upcoming Christmas indoor market this coming Sunday November 26th is on from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and promises to be a great day out and the perfect place to meet up with neighbours and friends and do some early Christmas shopping, Don’t forget we will have some delicious food vendors on the day, so you can take the day off from cooking…oh and Santa will be in his Grotto that day waiting to see all the lovely children in this part of the world. We could go on and on but it’s probably better if you just come out and see for yourselves.
Computers for Beginners: I have sought funding to run a Stage 1 course for the complete beginner. The course will start in the parish park in January and will cover the essentials of getting started, it will help you learn the basics and enable you to gain confidence in using the Internet, send emails, create documents. and share photos online if enough interest in progressing stage 2 will follow on. I would encourage anyone interested to contact me asap as spaces may be limited 087 1375222.

Streete Bowls AGM: The following officers were elected at the AGM last Tuesday night for the coming year: Chairman, Jimmy Levy Vice Chairman, Eamonn Carty Secretary, Pat Kelly Assistant Secretary, Martin Gaynor, Treasurers: Sean Flood Assistant Treasurer: Phyllis Martin. Public Relations Office: Martin Gaynor Safety Officers: Bill Bennett, Mícheál Gillen & Seamus Moran. On behalf of the Streete Bowls Club, I would like to congratulate all these officers on their appointments and wish them the best of luck in their new roles.
Streete Bowls: Last week we played Mullingar at the Streete complex, and everyone got a game. Our new members performed well on the night, with the visitors just coming out on top. On Sunday night the club travel to Mullingar for a return fixture. The club would like also to like to offer our sincere condolences to Alice Nerney upon the passing of Brian Nerney, who was great supporter of the club and who will be greatly missed by all. New and lapsed member are always welcome at the Streete Bowls Club.
Traditional Irish Step Dancing Classes for adults; Thursday night from 8 till 9, Classes are suitable for adults with little or no prior experience with traditional Irish dance. Book of Remembrance: The month of November is traditionally the month when we remember our loved ones gone before us. A book is open in the church for you to record their names for remembrance during mass throughout the month.
Mass intentions: Please remember in your prayers the soul of Joseph and Margaret Quinn, Culvin whose Anniversary Mass was last week. This coming Friday, Anniversary Mass for the soul of Bridie and Stephen O’Hara, Saturday night months mind Mass for the souls of Josie Boucher nee Kerrigan.
