Boherquill Ramblers
Sunday 5 June 2022 was part of a Bank Holiday weekend so a smaller than usual group of Ramblers met in Glasson for their Sunday walk. The early part of the walk was uphill but in compensation, there were fine views of the countryside towards Lough Ree. Further on the narrow road was bordered by banks of rhododendron in full flower with glimpses of uncut bog covered in white bog cotton. Towards the end of the loop walk, the bog had been cut, and there were large areas of machine-cut turf sods left out to dry.
Watertown House was another point of interest as the group passed between the ruins of the house and the stables near the end of the walk back in Glasson. The Ramblers will visit Longford Town for a canal walk on Sunday 19 June 2022. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and meet in Longford at 2pm in the car park behind the Dealz shop on Market Square. If you would like to add a walk, new or old, to this year's Walks Calendar please contact Philip Epps. See boherquillramblers.ie for more information.
