Congratulations: and best wishes to newlyweds, Carol Duffy Lismacaffrey and Sean O’Connor. whose wedding took place in St Mary's Church Boherquill recently. The happy couple along with family and close friends enjoyed a most memorable and beautiful day. Carol is the daughter of Mary and Pat Duffy, Ballew, who are delighted to add another Son to the family. We wish Carol and Sean every happiness in their future plans together and we wish them both a long and happy life filled with great joy riches and good health. 

Deepest sympathies: are extended to Seamus Moran Kilmore, on the sad passing of his mother Kathleen, Kate Ann. Predeceased by her beloved husband Jimmy, her son John, and Granddaughter Lisa.  Kate Ann passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. She will be sadly missed by his sons Seamus and Martin, and Daughter, Valerie. Her sister Margaret, brother Mike, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and a wide circle of neighbours and friends. For those of you who would like to leave a personal message please see the condolence section of R.I.P May her gentle soul rest in peace.

The happy couple along with family and close friends enjoyed a most memorable and beautiful day. Siobhan is a daughter of Frank Walker retired publican the Cornmill, Boherquill. and the late Theresa Walker. We wish Siobhan and Michael every happiness in their future plans together and we wish them both a long and happy life filled with great joy, riches and good health. 

National Heritage Week: with lots of events for young and old taking place throughout the counties from Sunday 13th to Sunday 21st August. There are some great events taking place all over the place to celebrate the week. The Knights and Conquests Heritage Centre, Granard is a hive of heritage activity this week to mark the centenary of the death of Michael Collins with a special event on Sunday 21st from 1.30 to 5 pm Check out the full programme of local events on heritageweek.ie

Community Alert: We have only a hand full of houses in the Westmeath part of the parish that have yet to subscribe to our community alert. We ask that you please do so now as any members who have not paid their €10 for more than 12 months will be removed from our text list by the end of the month. This wonderful service costs less than 2 cents per day. We will roll out a new app for your phone shortly called Be alert, which will greatly improve the alert service. This new app will replace the WhatsApp group allowing you more flexibility in the alerts you receive. You will also receive alerts from Granard and other surrounding areas along with weather and road closure/repair notices etc. In the meantime please report suspicious activity to Gardai immediately. COMMUNITY GAMES: - Congratulations and well done to all the boys and girls who participated in the national community games Track and Field finals held in Carlow on Saturday last, the competition was intense, especially under the strong hot sun. As word filters through Congrats and well done to Dillon Reilly from Cavan son of Laura Bannon and grandson to Carmel and Bernie Bannon Streete who won Gold in the under 10s to become All Ireland Champion. A fantastic achievement. It is wonderful to see community games doing so well over the past year after the Covid period. More next week. 

STREETE ACTIVE RETIREMENT: - We will have our next get-together on Tuesday, 23rd August in Streete Parish Park at 11.30a.m.  Please try to attend,  as we will discuss another outing if there is enough interest.  Also the usual chat and cuppa.

Boherquill Ramblers There was no walk on Sunday 7 August 2022 as it was the final day of the Fleadh Cheoil in Mullingar. On Sunday 21 August 2022 the Ramblers will walk at Stonepark near Longford. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30 pm and meet at 2 pm in the car park behind Dealz in Longford before moving on to Stonepark for a canal towpath walk. Farmers: A reminder to farmers. Farm Plastics collection scheme has now resumed and Bring Centres are now open. Bring-centres represent the most cost-effective and convenient means by which farmers can recycle old disused covering and silage wrap and farm plastics. For your convenience, your nearest centre Edgeworthstown at Shroid GAA Grounds, Longford Road on Tuesday 16th Aug and Granard Farmers Mart Saturday 20th August. IFFPC also collect. Table Quiz: In Aid of Rathowen Community Development: The annual Rathowen festival will Kick off this weekend with a table quiz on Friday at 9 pm in Connaughton’s Pub Rathowen.On Saturday a BBQ in FeerIck's Hotel with live music by Caroline Moore. Then a fun-filled family field day on Sunday with lots of entertainment throughout the day, live music by Colm Bourke. Plenty of spot prizes and fun to be had. Volunteers Needed: We are returning our Bingo to the hall on Monday nights in September. We are asking for volunteer help at the parish park. This is usually from 8 Pm until 10.30 Pm and can be worked on a rota to suit all. We depend greatly on our Bingo to keep our community centre open. Men’s Prayer Group:  We meet Every Monday in the church in Boherquill at 8 pm. New participants are always most welcome to join us and receive the support of other men in their prayer and personal life.
