Vintage Day 2019

Vintage day 2019 was held on Sunday, last, 30th June.  Full details on the event in next week’s paper.

Cemetery Sunday

Will take place on Sunday, July 7th at 11a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Boherquill and the Blessing of Graves afterwards in Church cemetery, St. Fintan’s, Coolamber and Streete after Mass.  We thank everyone who has all the plots clean and tidy, however some people are still leaving rubbish and grass cuttings in the cemetery, so we ask everyone to please take away all rubbish with them.

Please note that a collection will be taken up at the gate on Cemetery Sunday to assist with the maintenance of the cemetery. Please send word to any family members and friends who live away from the parish.  These details depend on suitable weather conditions.

Boherquill Ramblers

On 23 June 2019 the Ramblers visited Newtownforbes, County Longford. Their loop walk through the lush countryside to the south of the town highlighted different aspects of local history. New housing estates in the town gave way to old farmhouses with stone outbuildings. Swifts circled above Lisnabo House which was built around 1815 as a Church of Ireland school and later in the walk the route skirted the old forest of Newtownforbes Demesne.

Back towards the town again there were many large modern houses as the group neared the end of their walk.  Thank you to Marita MacNerney and Mary Brady who led the walk.

On Sunday 7 July 2019 the group will visit Lilliput beside Lough Ennell for a 10km road and cross-country walk. Boots should be worn as the ground will be rough in places and no dogs are allowed as farmland will be crossed. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and meet at Jonathan Swift Park in Lilliput at 2pm.

New members and new walks are always welcome. For details phone Philip at 087 7753612 or Nini at 086 8754411.  See boherquillramblers.ie
