Boherquill Ramblers

The weather was perfect for the Ramblers out and back walk along the abandoned canal starting at Kilbeggan Harbour on Sunday 5 July 2026. The warm sun was tempered by a gentle breeze which made walking a pleasure. Orchids and St John’s Wort beside the trail evoked comments among other wild flowers.

Refreshments at the picnic tables beside the harbour ended the afternoon very pleasantly. On Sunday 19 July 2026 the Ramblers will meet at 2pm at the Community Centre in Aughnacliffe. There will be a choice of walks: a shorter one around Leebeen Park and Lake, another of 9km or the third of 11km. Hi-vis vests are recommended for the longer walks. All walks take in Pulliness Waterfall and end back at the Community Centre. See boherquillramblers.ie

Community Centre

Parish Park Development

I am delighted to announce that the roadside Planning Permission notice, has finally gone up and the completed development plans of our parish Park have now been successfully submitted to Westmeath County Council for planning approval. This is a momentous milestone in the future development of our community centre.

A tremendous amount of hard work has gone in to putting a tangible future development plan together and one which will leave a lasting legacy for all to enjoy. We hope that approval will be in a timely manner and if any minor hiccups occur it will be overcome quickly in order to progress for funding streams to develop the all-weather pitch. All being well we expect the tender process to begin in the spring of 2027.

This will begin about the promised goal from where we started in Early 2024 and will kick start Phase 1, of the grounds development. We gratefully thank, Westmeath Community Development who were so supportive of the idea and came onboard to offer us a grant to complete a feasibility study and draw up plans to futureproof the development of our community centre to serve our community but also as a hub for sporting events for the wider areas.

New 50/50 Draw

Streete Parish Park Committee are delighted to announce our first winner of our new 50/50 draw. A local winner scooped €500 in our new guaranteed fundraising initiative which will run Biweekly to start off. You can buy as many draw tickets as you want. You can also buy a draw ticket in the usual way at €5 for a draw number or €10 for three draw numbers

When the draw takes place, whatever amount of money is raised at the time of the draw, will be split 50/50 between the winner and Streete Parish Park. This system gives you a much better chance of winning.  All money raised will go directly into the upkeep of our community centre and future development. Our draws will be held regularly, our next draw June 1st. with a minimum win of €500.
