Sunday morning will be show day with all the usual attractions on the day, this year we have country stars Declan Nerney and Effie Neill taking to the main stage. We look forward to welcoming exhibitors, vendors, autojumbles & friends back to Streete for another year. Boherquill Ramblers
On 31 May 2026, the last day of spring, the Ramblers walked in Rathowen Bog: the narrow path was bordered by an abundance of trees, shrubs and ferns all thriving after such a wet spring followed by a period of hot weather.
The trail is now largely abandoned now that peat extraction has ended in the bog but there was plenty of wildlife with the songs of the birds in the trees competing with the sound of constant traffic on the N4, 1km away. On Sunday 14 June 2026 the Ramblers will meet at 2pm in the car park beside the Fire Station in Mullingar for a walk beside the Royal Canal. See boherquillramblers.ie

Community Notices
Shop Closing
I’m sorry to report that the village shop in Coole has now closed its doors. I’m sure most people are already aware of the news. While we remain hopeful that someone will take it over in the future, for now the shop’s last trading day was last Sunday morning. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Brian, Clare, Marie, and the various weekend staff for their years of dedication and support to the community.
Clare and Marie will be greatly missed—not only for all they did, but for the warmth, kindness, and friendliness they showed to everyone who walked through the shop door each day. Their loyal service, commitment, and care for the community were evident in everything they did, and they helped make the shop a welcoming and valued part of village life.
Thank you all for your years of service, friendship, and community spirit. Your contribution to Coole, Streete and surrounding areas has been greatly appreciated, and the shop was much more than just a place to buy groceries—it was a meeting place, a source of support information, Gossip, and an important part of the community.
We wish you all every success, happiness, and good fortune in the future. We also hope that the shop will find new management soon and once again become a thriving part of village life.
