Our next adventure is to the Ulster Folk and history park in Omagh, this is not our first visit to the folk park but ranks high on the list of places our group would like to return, If you would like to join our Active retirement group and enjoy the many benefits, membership is just €30 per year and you don’t have to be from Streete, all are welcome.
Boherquill Ramblers
Past weeks: The Ramblers met at Kilpatrick for a walk along the shoreline and the woods beside Lough Owel on Sunday 12 July 2026. Starting at the car park, first there was a short walk down to Lough Owel where the calm water was dotted with lots of swimmers. The shade of the woods offered relief from the hot sun and also some very enjoyable wild raspberries which the birds had not yet found.
Blue butterflies accompanied the walkers as they completed their loop back to the car park. The more energetic in the group continued with a walk along the quiet tree-sheltered road from the car park to the N4 and back again. The usual chat and cuppa ended the afternoon’s gathering. Many thanks to Deirdre Leavy for organizing and leading the walk.
On Sunday 26 July 2026 the Ramblers will meet at 2pm at Kilasona National School for the last walk before their August break. There will be an 8km loop walk with a shorter option.

The Ramblers met at the Community Centre in Aughnacliffe for their walk on Sunday 19 July 2026. Some members took the easier option in the hot sun and drove to Lebeen Park for a walk round the Lake. The remainder walked the 9km loop round Aughnacliffe, passing Cloonrah Portal Tomb or dolmen outside the village and then returning to the Lake and onwards to Pulliness
Waterfall on the outskirts of the village near their starting point at the Community Centre. The walks routes are a credit to the local community with good walking surfaces and information boards at many locations. Thank you to Deirdre Leavy who organized the walk.
The Ramblers will now take their usual August break and will meet again on Sunday 6 September 2026. All members are wished a happy and healthy summer break.
