Boherquill Ramblers: The Ramblers joined the Green Ribbon walk in Granard on Sunday 17 September. The ‘Walk and Talk’ is to help raise awareness of mental health problems in the farming community. The walk started at the Knights and Conquests centre and after a brief stop outside St. Mary’s Church, the group tackled the steep climb up to the summit of the nearby Anglo-Norman Motte and Bailey, dating from around 1199. On a clear day parts of nine counties can be seen but a heavy drizzle descended on Sunday and everyone returned to the Knights and Conquests Centre. Once there tea, coffee and a great selection of fresh sandwiches and cakes kept the conversation flowing, which was the aim of the gathering after all. Thank you to Gretta of the IFA’s Farm Family Committee, See Change, Mental Health Ireland, the Knights and Conquests staff and all who supplied the refreshments for an informative and very enjoyable afternoon.
On Sunday 01 October 2023 the Ramblers will walk at the Bohernabreena Reservoirs in Tallaght. A bus will leave the car park beside the Fire Station in Mullingar at 10am sharp.
