SENIORS ALERT SCHEME: As the winter months draw closer Streete Watch Community Alert would like to remind you of our Seniors Alert Scheme. We are delighted to say that over 80% of our senior citizens have availed of the alert scheme. This simple little bracelet which is worn around your wrist or Neck enables people over 65 to continue to live securely in their own homes with confidence, independence, and peace of mind. This Free Personal Alarm is Monitored 24/7. The equipment is fully free for the first year. An annual fee of €66 is applicable from year 2 on. Active Retirement Meeting: Oliver Fallen tells me has had a good response from our drop-in chat morning recently. Oliver is looking forward to coming back to record some interesting stories and memories from people about their childhood. and the stories passed down from your parents and grandparents. For some, this is a great opportunity to leave a little of your memories to be passed on to generations to come. Westmeath County Council through the heritage officer is fully backing this wonderful project. These stories will be archived in a new book of memories which will form part of the library collection and stand the testament of time like the folklore collection back in 1935 This is an ideal opportunity for local schools to become involved in a very interesting step back into history for our younger generation. I hope other people will join us for the usual cuppa at our next meeting and remember all are welcome; you don’t have to be from the Streete area to join in.
Community Alert: We have only a hand full of houses in the Westmeath part of the parish that have yet to subscribe to our community alert. We ask that you please do so now as any members who have not paid their €10 for more than 12 months will be removed from our text list by the end of the month. This wonderful service costs less than 2 cents per day. We will roll out a new app for your phone shortly called Be alert, which will greatly improve the alert service. This new app will replace the WhatsApp group allowing you more flexibility in the alerts you receive. You will also receive alerts from Granard and other surrounding areas along with weather and road closure/repair notices etc. In the meantime please report suspicious activity to Gardaí immediately.
