Deepest sympathies: Are expressed to Karin Oram and her family Lisnagappagh on the sad passing of her dear mother. Gean will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his heartbroken family. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
Badminton: Badminton will start back on Wednesday 20th of September at 8.30 pm in Streete Parish Park. New members, improvers and beginners of all ages are welcome to join. Please come along and tell a friend. all ages are welcome, Call Maeve at 086 3652445 or Kevin 087 1375222
Birthday: Happy birthday to Seamus Moran, Kilmore who celebrated a milestone birthday last weekend, We wish Seamus great health and happiness into the future with joy in abundance.
RUN/WALK Change of Date: Due to road safety concerns with the evenings closing into darkness earlier, we have decided to move the date and event to a family fun walk on Sunday, September 24th starting at 2 p.m. Please note the 5k Competitors Run will move to a new date, yet to be decided. We would like to see more families enjoying and supporting this event. We ask parents and family members to come out and support this local walk with all proceeds going to our community centre. Please remember that Streete Parish Park Complex and facilities are run by a voluntary committee that needs support so please give this a thought. Lotto Winner: Congratulations to the recent winner of our Parish Park Lotto. The winner from Legan scoped a whopping €5750 We wish the winner happy spending and thank Lily for selling the winning ticket. The draw takes place every two weeks with the lotto prize money starting off again at €2000. Envelopes €2 each or 3 for €5 Annual Ticket €50 So remember if you are not in you can't win.
Streete Wildlife Club: The Club would like to offer its condolences to the Devaney family Ballaghgowla Coolamber on the sad passing of Pat. May his soul rest in peace.
Christmas Market: The organising committee are delighted to let everyone know that the upcoming Christmas indoor market is fully booked with an amazing array of stalls and handmade crafts. The money collected will be used to purchase Christmas decorations for the hall and the remaining money will go towards the upkeep of the parish park. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase local craftsman and artisan producers and to bring them all together under one big roof for the wider community to enjoy. We encourage everyone to come out and support us on November 26th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for what promises to be a great day out and the perfect place to meet up with neighbours and friends and do some early Christmas shopping, Don’t forget we will have some delicious food vendors on the day, so you can take the day off from cooking…oh and Santa will be in his Grotto that day waiting to see all the lovely children in this part of the world. We could go on and on but it’s probably better if you just come out and see for yourselves.
Fundraiser to support ‘cattle man: A special benefit night will take place on Saturday, September 30th, at The Piker’s Lodge Gowna, in support of well-known cattleman Declan Quinn from Granard, His daughter, Natasha Egan, has set up An iDonate fundraising page to raise €15,000. Declan who is well-known with all the farmers in the local area, suffered a life-changing brain haemorrhage last December which has left him unable to regain mobility, As a result, will be wheelchair dependent and require a high level of assistance. Natasha, asks for your support to raise funds to prepare Declan’s home for his needs and to help the family ensure he receives the equipment and care required for her dad to return home and continue his rehabilitation. SOCIAL DANCING: A reminder, our next Dance is on Friday 29th September, with the legends of social dance, Shobud. The lead singer Robert Brown, hails from Big Tom Country, Castleblaney and are a long-established band that plays a great mix of country and social dance music for your enjoyment..A brilliant night of Dancing is guaranteed. Doors open from 9.00 til late
Croagh Patrick Climb: Eamon Campbell along with Lisryan Community Tidy Towns is organising a fundraising Climb of the Reek on September 16th with part of the proceeds raised going to Alzheimer's Society. A bus will run on the day, for more info contact Eamon 087 1470280

Boherquill Ramblers: On Sunday 3 September 2023 the Ramblers returned after their August break with a walk in Derrycassin Wood near Granard. The weather was dry and warm with a cooling breeze blowing off Lough Gowna as the group followed the trail through what was once a large estate. Little now remains of Derrycassin House and its walled garden but Coillte have carried out many improvements with signs leading to the various ruins and a viewing point overlooking Lough Gowna. On Sunday 17 September 2023, the Ramblers will join the IFA Green Ribbon Walk in Granard. The ‘Walk and Talk’ is to help raise awareness of mental health problems in the farming community. The walk will start at 3 pm at the Knights and Conquests centre and there will be refreshments afterwards. Please take note of the later-than-usual start time.
