The Winter Shearing: A presentation night took place in the Crossroads Inn Lisryan on Friday night the 6th of January. Angie McNulty from the Mater Foundation made her way from Co. Laois to receive the cheque. It was a huge surprise to the crowd when the cheque of €12,863 was presented to Angie from all the lads who took part. Eamonn Campbell would like to thank everyone who helped out and supported in any and every way to make this event possible.
Badminton: A meeting will be held for those interested in setting up a badminton club in Streete Parish Park on Tuesday night 24th at 8.30 sharp, all ages are welcome. RSVP to Maeve at 086 3652445 or Kevin 087 1375222
Deepest sympathies: are expressed to Karen Scally, Coolnagun and her extended family on the very sad passing of her mother Ann Scally, née O’Neill, Coole, and formerly of Breanrisk, Drumlish, Co. Longford. Ann passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her parents James and Elizabeth O’Neill and her sister Irene, she will be greatly missed by her devoted husband Jimmy, children Edel, Lorraine, David, Derek, Sabrina, Karen, Enda and Deirdre, brother Patrick, sisters Elizabeth, Marie and Margaret, grandchildren, brother-in-law Sean, sister-in-law Audrey, sons-in-law/daughters-in-law/partners, nieces, nephews, extended family and a wide circle of, neighbours and friends. May her Gentle Soul Rest In Peace
Wanted: Children's peddle cars and Tractors in any condition, it does not need to be in working order. We are hoping to make a static display of Tractors decorated with fairy lights for next Christmas at the park entrance. Also any Christmas lights or decorations you may wish to donate, just give us a call 087 1375222 if you can deliver or drop them at the Park door.
SOCIAL DANCE: Reminder next Friday we have Michael Cahill, all the way from Cork. Michael plays a great selection of get-out and dance music to suit all tastes. Music is from 9.30 with the usual complimentary supper and a free raffle. Meet many new faces and make new friends while enjoying a great night out. Dancing from 9.30 p.m.-12 with admission €10.
The Parish Park Committee: We are desperately seeking your help to maintain and keep our Bingo going. Bingo is our main source of income. We are presently depending on the same volunteers week in and week out. All we ask is a small amount of your time to spread the load and allow the present volunteers time to recharge their batteries. I would seriously ask every home, Club or group that uses or benefits from the community centre to consider what it would be like if this wonderful facility had to be scaled back due to a lack of community involvement. We are primarily looking for bingo callers, floor support and general help in the daily running of the centre. The committee is open and willing to listen to your questions and offers of help. Streete Wildlife club: would like to offer its sincere sympathy to Pat Donnelly Lismacaffrey on the sad passing of his sister Mary Robinson Castlepollard. Also, sincere sympathy to Karen Scally Coolnagun on the sad passing of her mother Ann Scally Coole. May they both rest in peace.
LOTTO & BINGO: Bingo every Monday night. We ask that you support our Lotto envelopes and our bingo. If you can sell a few envelopes to family and friends, not alone, are you supporting our community centre, but you are also in with a chance to win almost €5000 in our fortnightly draw. Why not take a chance and buy an annual Lotto envelope as a new year's present for someone. Show them how much you care, annual lotto envelopes are only €50 and entered into the main draw with a chance to also win in our lucky dip draw for €25 fortnightly. Please return to the letterbox in the Centre door. It is locked and safe. Results every 2 weeks.
Walking Track Membership: It's that time of year again. The Committee would like to thank everyone who paid for membership for the past number of years and would like to remind you that your membership is now due for renewal in January. New member application forms can be found in the entrance hall of the Parish Park or by calling into the office upstairs Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday or Friday from 10 am until 1.30 pm. Single membership is €20, and a family is €30. We also remind you this would make a great Christmas present to someone. Gift vouchers are available from the office. please ask any of the Committee or call Kevin 087 1375222. All cheques made payable to Streete Parish Park.
Lotto: Streete Parish Park Lotto Draw. On behalf of all at Streete Parish Park, we would like to wish you all a very Happy and prosperous new year, see you all in 2023. First, draw results of the new year next week.
Church Notes: Masses and Adoration this week Streete/Rathowen: This coming Sunday is the 3rd Sunday in Ordinary time. Vigil Mass every Saturday in Boherquill at 8 Pm. Every Sunday in Rathowen at 10 am. Mass this week Tuesday, Boherquill 9.30 Am. Wednesday Rathowen 9.30 Am Thursday, Rathowen 9.30 Am, adoration 10 to 10.30 Friday Boherquill 8 pm. Adoration 7 – 8 pm. Offertory Envelopes for the upkeep of the parish are available for collection in both churches.
