Well Done: to all who took part in the Winter Shearing charity fundraiser recently held in the crossroads inn Lisryan. The night was a great success with over 20 local lads volunteering to grow beards and have their heads shaved on the night. The fundraiser in aid of The Mater Foundation raised much-needed funds which will go directly to providing services and equipment for patients in need of advanced surgery or care that otherwise would not exist. The event was organised by Eamonn Campbell, who would like to thank everyone who came out to support and give so generously on the night. Eamonn would like to invite you to attend the cheque presentation to Angi McNulty from the Mater Association, in the crossroads inn next Friday night 6th. Music on the night by Allana Maher, please come out and support.
Fairy light tractor run: This year again the fairy light tractor run was a phenomenal success and brought huge excitement to the parish park, on Wednesday evening last, as the first of many tractors started to appear and the evening darkened, almost 70 tractors decked out in Christmas fairy lights rolled out on their 20 Km journey around the local area adding great cheer to the festive spirit. The event raised almost €2000. Eamon Carthy chairman of St Christopher’s Edgeworthstown branch has asked me to convey their grateful thanks to absolutely everybody who took part and supported the event. The Christmas fairy light tractor run was organised by the parish park committee, who would also like to express our gratitude to all of the volunteers who helped out and ensured the event was a success, The important aspect of these events is that we as a community support very worthy local organisations. The funds raised will give much-needed support to the local branch of St. Christopher’s which provides individual care to people with special needs to reach their full potential. The feedback from the drivers was great and we’re already looking forward to getting back on the road again for the fairy light run 2023,” Thanks to all involved.
