Table Quiz
The Streete Watch Community Alert committee would like to say a big Thank You to everyone who supported and took part in last Friday nights table quiz in the Fiddlers Green, Streete. Quiz master, Padraig Flynn, regaled the crowd with his amusing line of questions. An excellent raffle also took place after the quiz with a large range of fantastic prizes which were all very kindly donated with almost every table receiving a spot-prize. We would also like to say thanks to all who made and donated sandwiches.
We would also like to thank Jim for the use of his premises. Thanks also to Fr. Nigel for his attendance. All in all, the quiz was a huge success. All monies raised will go towards Community Alert equipment and signage. So far, over 85 percent of the parish have signed up to our text alert system. If you haven’t had a call from one of our committee and would like to sign up it only costs €10 for the year.
Please let us know and we will gladly call to you. We can’t promise to prevent crime but working together and being vigilant will greatly reduce the possibility. Garda Paddy Gynan will attend a meeting next month to advise our community on drugs and how to identify and report illicit use.
Contact Paula: 087 9680739 or Kevin: 087 137522 if you want to register for our alert.
Streete Bowls
The club has resumed bowling after the Christmas break. Streete A and C hosted Ardagh B and Mullingar at the Streete Complex on Tuesday night. Streete A had a hard fought win over Ardagh but Streete C lost narrowly on the night to Mullingar.
Streete B travelled to Athlone on the same night but did not win any points. All members of the club would like to offer their sincere sympathy to Rachel Gaffney on the recent death of her husband Paddy. May he rest in peace. New members welcome.
