Retirement: On behalf of our community and the committee of Streete Parish Park, we would like to wish Mary McBrien a long and happy retirement. Mary has been part of our valued office staff for over 22 years and has spent relentless hours behind the scenes as a volunteer. Mary started working with Brian Nerney and co-worker, Anne Creamer in Rath Old School all so many years ago and has dedicated a great part of her life to our community. It has been a privilege to work alongside Mary and I can honestly say she will be greatly missed by all her Work Colleagues, Committee and all who drop in daily. We wish Mary every happiness in her retirement and hope she will not totally disappear from helping out. Mary will always be welcomed with an open heart at Streete Parish Park.

SOCIAL DANCING: A great night of Social Dancing took place in The Parish Park last Friday night to the sound of UNITY. Ruth Cunningham and partner Louie, travelled from Kildare to perform for us. The happy couple have played for us in the past, pre covid and are one of those bands we always like to welcome back. Next month we have another duo Liam Mannering and Maria. The couple are well-known as top entertainers on the dance scene, so a brilliant night of Dancing is guaranteed. The next Social Dance is on August 25th from 9.30 til late
Boherquill Ramblers: The Ramblers walked in Portlick on Sunday 23 July 2023, their first visit for several years to the native woodland beside Lough Ree. They took the trail which closely follows the shore of the Lough, with several side tracks to the water’s edge. Holly and hazel trees dominated the scene with crab apples and plenty of blackberry bushes. The weather was much better than forecast so the walk became a leisurely stroll with stops to enjoy the views out over the water before turning away from the Lough, past Portlick Scout Campsite and the entrance to Portlick Castle on the way back to the car park. All Ramblers are wished a happy and healthy August Break, the next walk will be on Sunday 3 September 2023. If you would like to add a walk, new or old, to this year's Walks Calendar please contact Philip Epps. See boherquillramblers.ie for more information.
