STREETE & DISTRICT NOTES

BEST WISHES: - and a very happy, healthy and peaceful New Year to all readers of my Streete & District notes each week in this paper, and I offer my sincere thanks to our two ladies, Anne Creamer and Mary McBrien who throughout the year help me with typing and emailing to the papers etc., as I would not cope without their wonderful help.

THANKS: - as president of the most successful Walking Club, Boherquill Ramblers  our gratitude in particular goes to club Chairperson, Patricia Bruton, Ballynacargy who helps out in so many ways and in particular she organises our annual trips to interesting places and countries from time to time, our Secretary, Nini Murray, Tarmonbarry who does all secretarial matters, our Joint Treasurers, Alice Nerney & Mary McHugh who keep us on the straight and narrow at all times and  most of all thanks to our unbelievable P.R.O, Philip Epps, Monilea, helped by his wife, Maura Cullen who organises new walks etc. etc.  Should I have overlooked anyone please forgive me as all our members play their own part and help out in many ways.  Thank you to all on behalf of all of us and Happy 2019 walking.  New members always welcome just contact any of us or Alice 0868130780; [email protected] or Brian 086 2596656 or [email protected] .  Finally I must remind all to pay our insurance and we depend on your membership which is only €20 per person or €30 per family payable to Mary McHugh or any family member.

LOTTO: - the numbers drawn in  our last lotto draw on  17th December 2018 were 8,17,21 25 and the results were as  follows: - 1 Aaron Parker c/o C & D: 2 Aoghan Clarke: 3 Gerry O’Neill:  4 St. James’s Church of Ireland : 5 Tommy & Fionnula Denning.

CHARITY WALK: - in aid of St. Christopher’s (Mostrim Branch) in conjunction with Boherquill Ramblers Walking Club  on Sunday, 13th January at 2.00p.m. starting at Streete Parish Park with refreshments afterwards in the Centre.  This walk is suitable for all age groups. For further information please call Tracey on 087 9287129.

JACKPOTS: - in Streete Parish Park – jackpot (1) €20,000, jackpot (2) €9,000, lotto jackpot, €15,000.  Bingo every Monday night at 8.30p.m. Lotto during bingo every second Monday night.

OFFICE HOURS: - our office is upstairs and will be attended by Mary & Anne Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 10a.m. – 2p.m. with reasonably priced secretarial services.  Please phone during these times on 043 6685926.

CHRISTENING: - congratulations to our Parish Park Chairman, Declan Carthy and his wife, Tracey whose baby girl, Fiadh was christened in St. Mary’s Church, Boherquill on Saturday last with refreshments afterwards in the Parish Park Centre.  We wish Declan, Tracey and Fiadh a long and healthy life ahead. 

STREETE WILDLIFE CLUB; - The following are the results from our ever popular winter league.
High gun winner Ronan Quinn Moydow, Runner-up Malcolm Graham Monaghan, Class AA winner Shane Kelly Moydow, Runner-up Dinko Berta Streete, Class A winner Richard O'Rawe Cavan, Runner-up James Flynn Streete, Class B winner Jerry Smith Cavan, Runner-up Kelsey O'Rawe Cavan, Class C winner Frank Lyons Legan, Runner up Connor Gillhooley, class X for those that didn't get the five scores in to qualify for the grand final winner Shane Getting’s Streete, Runner-up Barney Kenny Cashel,
Ladies section winner Kelsey O'Rawe Cavan, Junior section winner James Flynn, Streete, Ball trap winner Malcolm Graham Monaghan, runner-up Richard O'Rawe Cavan, most improved shooter of the league Frankie Carrigy Balinalee. The club would like to express a special word of thanks to the following, Ray Dolan Mullingar, Pat Grimes Rathowen for his camera work on the final night, Peggy Denning and Mary Mulligan for the wonderful supply of buns and scones each Thursday night, O'Brien's centre Mullingar, Quinn’s Supply stores Edgeworthstown for their valued support and sponsorship from 2016, to all members of Streete wildlife club for turning out each Thursday night to referee etc. To our main sponsor Ronan Quinn of Derrymore Peat Moydow Longford.

BOHERQUILL RAMBLERS; - The mild weather continued over the Christmas period for the Ramblers walks in Mullaghmeen Forest on St. Stephen's Day 2018 and Kilbixy forest on 30 December so the members had a chance to walk off the excesses of the season.
On Sunday 13 January 2019 there will be a walk in aid of St Christopher’s Services for people with intellectual difficulties starting at 2pm sharp, please, at Streete Parish Park. There will be refreshments and a raffle after the walk.
The Boherquill Ramblers 2019 AGM will be held on Sunday 3 February at Streete Parish Park. Details will be given in future notes.
All Ramblers and their families are wished a Happy New Year and Good Health in 2019.
